Hotel Kivir y Bécquer
Driving the Sustainability Strategy at Hotel Kivir and Bécquer through Collective Knowledge
Project purpose
The project was born with the mission to engage people and make sustainability a strategic focus with a long-term vision in the hotels. The main objective was to effectively integrate sustainability into their daily operations, ensuring that it became part of their culture and management model, beyond isolated actions.

Why was the project created?
In their commitment to sustainability, the hotels conducted a detailed analysis of their establishments and defined a series of actions to implement. However, the real challenge arose when it came to turning those ideas into a tangible reality. This is when they contacted ético. From the outset, we were clear that the success of this transformation depended on the commitment and involvement of the teams. Therefore, we designed a participatory approach with initiatives that allowed everyone to actively engage in the process, ensuring that sustainability moved from paper to practice in an effective and lasting way.
Project phases

-
In our collaboration with the hotels, we carried out a structured process to integrate sustainability into their daily operations. We started with a detailed analysis of the previously defined strategy, contrasting it with the reality and specificities of each establishment. We soon identified that the change had to come from the heart of the hotel: its human team.
-
Thus, we designed collective knowledge sessions where all employees gained a solid foundation in sustainability. These sessions not only served to train the teams but also to foster active participation in building the roadmap toward a more sustainable model.
-
During these sessions, participants were organized into groups to identify and propose concrete actions they could implement in their day-to-day operations. We believe in the importance of integrating all perspectives within the hotel to achieve a holistic approach aligned with its identity.
-
As a result, initiatives emerged in three key areas: social, environmental, and economic sustainability. To prioritize them, a collective vote was held, ensuring that the selected actions addressed the team’s needs and expectations.
-
To ensure the continuity and evolution of this process, a Sustainability Committee was established, responsible for monitoring the initiatives, fostering team involvement, and providing specialized knowledge in each area.
-
At ético, we regularly supported this Sustainability Committee, providing the necessary expertise to ensure the strategy has clear direction and endures over time.
Achieved benefits
This participatory approach not only strengthens the hotel's sustainability strategy but also transforms its organizational culture in a real and lasting way. Through our work, we have ensured that the teams play a key role in creating their own strategy, fostering their involvement and sense of belonging.
One of the main achievements has been the integration of sustainability into the hotel’s daily operations, empowering the teams with greater autonomy and decision-making capacity. This not only improves internal management but also drives results more aligned with the establishment’s values and objectives.
