TRIVAGO - Strategic Implementation of the SDGs
trivago compares hotel prices around the world. Its headquarters are in Dusseldorf and, in 2019, it had offices in Palma de Mallorca and Leipzig.
The philosophy of the company puts the well-being of the employee first by offering them extra salary benefits. In its commitment to sustainability, the Palma office contacted us to carry out an implementation strategy for the Sustainable Development Goals in its facilities.
The Sustainable Development Goals in companies.
The Sustainable Development Goals were developed in 2015 by the United Nations in the 2030 Agenda. Its 17 goals and 169 goals have as global objectives to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure the prosperity of people.
To achieve them, we all have to be part of it. This requires the commitment of governments, the private sector, the public sector and society as a whole.
Sustainability actions and the implementation of the SDGs
We started a plan to incorporate the Sustainable Development Goals into the management of the organisation. To do this, we carried out an analysis and detected the SDGs with the greatest impact. The needs of the destination and the nature of the activity determined for us 2 main and 6 secondary SDGs for the development of the Sustainability strategy of the trivago office in Palma de Mallorca.
To stimulate sustainability between the different departments, trivago organised a Hackathon where the programmers were challenged to create an application that aimed to improve the situation of people or the planet. As experts in the field, we carried out training in order to publicise the importance of Sustainability.
In addition, we were part of the jury that decided the winning project according to the marked specifications.
We also carried out training for the entire company on sustainability and on how people can do their bit to take care of the planet from their homes as well.
